Michael J. Weiner litigates business disputes. Over the past thirty years, Mr. Weiner has handled all stages of civil trials, hearings, and appeals. He deploys his extensive know-how and experience to serve his clients’ business objectives, having tried multimillion-dollar cases to verdict, argued appeals in previously unresolved areas of the law, and settled hundreds of cases on favorable terms. The breadth of the cases Mr. Weiner handles is as expansive as the needs of the business enterprises that he represents. He has advocated in disputes among shareholders and business partners, including derivative suits and proceeding for involuntary dissolution; commercial landlord and tenant matters; breach of contract cases, including conflicts regarding non-compete, non-disclosure and non-solicitation agreements; insurance coverage and bad faith contests; unfair competition suits; civil RICO cases, and commercial tort actions.

He is a member of the board of directors of the LGBT Bar Association of Great New York (“LeGaL”), where he presently serves as Co-Chair of the Governance Committee and is the former Co-Chair of LeGaL’s Judiciary Committee. In 2015, LeGaL recognized Mr. Weiner with an award for his outstanding pro bono service at its Newark, New Jersey walk-in clinic.

Mr. Weiner has also served as a Delegate to several independent judicial screening panels in New York and Bronx Counties and as the Administrator of the 2022 New York City Democratic Committee’s Supreme Court Independent Screening Panel. In addition, he is a member of the New York Path to the Bench Working Group of the American Constitution Society.

Frequently Called upon to lecture on business law, the judicial selection process, and advocacy, Mr. Weiner has taught as an adjunct professor of legal writing at Brooklyn Law School.
